Too many people blame others for what happens in their life when really EVERYTHING that happens is a result of your actions, from the food you put in your mouth, to how you spend your money, or who you choose to surround yourself with.
I’m not perfect. Sometimes I catch myself thinking that someone else can get me to where I want to go and make me achieve my goals, but in reality the only person who can make any real change or impact in my own life is me. This is because no-one cares about my goals as much as I do, or has enough time to focus on them. I know this may sound a little harsh but in reality everyone has their own problems and busy lives to worry about. And this is fine because my life is my responsibility and no-one else’s. People can guide and inspire you towards your goal but only YOU can take the actions to create the life you want.
By taking extreme ownership of your life you will soon learn that there are no excuses, only barriers and the only thing between you and what you want to achieve in life is taking ACTION.
When I work with a client, one of the first ideas I share with them is that as a personal trainer, I am only there to give them the tools, to teach, guide and encourage them through their journey towards be coming a stronger version of themselves, but only they can make the changes in their life happen. By giving them ownership straight away this cuts out any blame, excuses or waiting for someone to do it for them, and this leads to greater results.
So if you’re looking to make positive change in your life, be it health related or not, just remember you are the last line of defence and there is no-one else behind you. The sooner you come to terms with this idea the sooner your life will change for the better.
